Feline association updates guidelines for senior cars
July 22, 2009
According to AAFP, although 78% of owners consider their cars to be
family members, many cats, particularly seniors, do not receive
appropriate preventive care. The new guidelines classify older cats
into three categories - 7 to 10 years is a mature or middle-aged cat,
11-14 years is a senior cat and 15 years and older is a geriatric cat
- to allow veterinarians to focus on the disease risks associated with
each group.
