Dr. Laura Challoner

Dr. Laura Challoner
When Dr. Laura Challoner graduated from the University Of Wisconsin School Of Veterinary Medicine in 1990, she envisioned a career practicing at an exclusively feline veterinary clinic. She immediately joined the Cat Care Clinic where her love of cats and caring for them has been fulfilled.

Prior to post graduate education, Dr. Challoner raised, bred and showed Himalayan cats. The medical challenges inherent in that breed furthered her interest in feline veterinary medicine. She thus has both real world and medical knowledge of pure breed cats.

However, Dr. Challoner has not limited her love and interest in felines to “fancy” cats! She rescued and kept a family of feral cats and finds them to be among the sweetest and most loving of all the cats she has known, even though some are so shy that they only seem to trust her (and maybe not even her!) and no one else.

Dr. Challoner has also developed an interest in feline leukemia positive cats and their unique needs. Since the first one in 1994, Dr. Challoner has adopted a number of feline leukemia positive cats and they have and had a special place in her home and heart.

Dr. Challoner understands the emotional and financial challenges many owners face as a result of current circumstances or the special needs of their feline family members. Dr. Challoner also fervently believes that in a good home, with a good owner and with the outstanding veterinary care the Cat Care Clinic provides, the lives of all kitties can be lived to the fullest.

When Dr. Challoner is not caring for cats, she loves to travel and ride her bicycle. Sometimes she even combines those interests, having participated in a number of European bicycle mountain climbing tours.
